Recent Advances in Bacterial Degradation of Hydrocarbons

چکیده

Hydrocarbons occur in fossil fuels such as crude oil and consist mainly of hydrogen carbon. Although they are natural chemicals, refining results commercial products with new physico-chemical properties, which can increase their complexity toxicity, hamper degradation. The presence biodiverse microbial communities is a prerequisite for an effective homeostatic response to the various hydrocarbons, that contaminate ecosystems. However, removal depends on compartment contaminated (water, sediment, soil), molecular weight, toxicity not hampering activity. This paper reports different bacterial species involved biodegradation aliphatic aromatic hydrocarbons. Hydrocarbon contamination generally due co-presence mixture these from environment cannot rely only single but requires consortia. Versatile metabolism relies specific genes encoding key enzymes peripheral metabolic central pathways degrading polycyclic have potential attenuation contaminants, hydrocarbon bioremediation, through biostimulation (e.g., use surfactants, plants, earthworms, nanoparticles) bioaugmentation, be valid tool removing them actually soil, freshwater, groundwater, seawater.

Recent Advances in Hemophilia Gene Therapy

Heterogeneous loss of function mutations at F8 and F9 genes causes X-linked recessive bleeding disorders, hemophilia A (HA) and hemophilia B (HB), respectively. HA is clinically indistinguishable from HB and accounts for more than 80% of hemophilia cases; the former affects 1/5000 and the latter 1/25000 male births worldwide. In Iran, it is estimated that around 4300 HA and 900 HB patients are ...

Recent Advances in Bacterial Silage Inoculant Technology

The concept of using cultures of lactic acid bacteria to enhance silage fermentation developed near the beginning of the last century but early cultures had insufficient bacteria and little success until freeze drying and encapsulation techniques were developed (Weinberg and Muck, 1996). Traditional silage inoculants were developed to acidify crops during anaerobic storage and thereby minimize ...

Recent Advances In Treatment of Acute Organophosphorous Nerve Agents Poisoning

Organophosphorous (OP) chemical warfare nerve agents mainly sarin and tabun were used during the Iran-Iraq war with high mortalities. In addition to atropine and oximes, the followings have recently been used successfully for the treatment of OP poisoning. 1. Sodium Bicarbonate: Infusion of high doses of sodium bicarbonate (5 mEq/kg in 60 min. followed by 5-6 mEq/kg/day to obtain arterial blood...
